These conditions highlight the need for continuous psychosocial support, particularly through guidance and counseling services. This study aims to describe the role of counselors in improving the mental health of children in orphanages through guidance and counseling services and to explore children’s experiences and perceptions of these services. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted at An-Nur Pasanehan Children’s Orphanage. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that many children experience emotional and social difficulties, including anxiety, low self-confidence, and challenges in social interaction. Guidance and counseling services play a significant role in helping children manage emotions, develop a sense of safety, enhance self-confidence, and improve social relationships. The effectiveness of these services is supported by the regular presence of counselors, child-friendly and simple counseling approaches, and active involvement of caregivers. This study concludes that guidance and counseling services are essential in fostering the mental health of children in orphanages. It is recommended that orphanages provide structured and sustainable counseling services to support children’s overall psychosocial development. Anak-anak yang tinggal di panti asuhan memiliki kerentanan terhadap berbagai masalah kesehatan mental akibat latar belakang kehidupan yang penuh kehilangan dan ketidakstabilan keluarga. Kondisi tersebut menuntut adanya dukungan psikososial yang berkelanjutan, khususnya melalui layanan bimbingan dan konseling. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran konselor dalam meningkatkan kesehatan mental anak panti asuhan melalui layanan bimbingan dan konseling serta menggali pengalaman dan persepsi anak terhadap layanan tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus yang dilaksanakan di Panti Asuhan Anak An-Nur Pasanehan. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa anak panti asuhan mengalami berbagai masalah emosional dan sosial, seperti kecemasan, rendahnya kepercayaan diri, dan kesulitan berinteraksi. Layanan bimbingan dan konseling berperan penting dalam membantu anak mengelola emosi, meningkatkan rasa aman, memperkuat kepercayaan diri, serta memperbaiki hubungan sosial. Keberhasilan layanan didukung oleh kehadiran konselor secara rutin, pendekatan yang sederhana dan ramah anak, serta keterlibatan pengasuh. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa bimbingan dan konseling merupakan komponen penting dalam upaya membangun kesehatan mental anak panti asuhan. Thus, it is important for these children to get help that can lead them to realize their potential, accept their condition, and form a positive perspective about themselves in order to grow well. Children in orphanages often experience a lack of emotional and social support that can affect the way they see themselves. The purpose of this study was to determine and describe the implementation of classical guidance services in developing children's self-concept at the Aisyiyah Putra Gantiang Orphanage, and to see the extent to which classical guidance services can help children in the orphanage in understanding, recognizing, and forming a positive self-concept in everyday life. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, which aims to describe in depth the implementation of classical guidance services in developing children's self-concept at the Aisyiyah Putra Gantiang orphanage. Data collection techniques in this study include observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results are presented in narrative descriptions aimed at explaining the phenomenon in detail and based on context. Data validity was tested through triangulation to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the research results. Key informants in this study were the classical guidance implementers, namely counselors and the children participating in the classical guidance program. Classical guidance is an effective preventive strategy for educating orphanage children in developing their self-concept. This service not only provides education but also builds awareness, develops self-awareness skills, and increases social support. Therefore, this activity can serve as a model for sustainable service implementation to help orphanage children improve their self-concept. Anak-anak yang berada di panti asuhan sering kali mengalami dampak dari kehilangan sosok orang tua dan kurangnya dukungan emosional, yang mempengaruhi cara mereka memandang diri sendiri. Dengan demikian, penting bagi anak-anak ini untuk mendapatkan bantuan yang dapat mengarahkan mereka untuk menyadari potensi yang dimiliki, menerima kondisi diri mereka, dan membentuk perspektif positif tentang diri agar dapat tumbuh dengan baik. Anak-anak di panti asuhan sering kali mengalami kurangnya dukungan emosional dan sosial yang dapat berpengaruh pada cara mereka melihat diri mereka sendiri. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini meliputi observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian disampaikan dalam bentuk deskripsi naratif yang bertujuan menjelaskan fenomena dengan rinci dan berdasarkan konteks, sementara pengujian validitas data dilakukan melalui triangulasi untuk menjamin ketepatan dan kepercayaan hasil penelitian. From this perspective, sociology and anthropology provide essential theoretical foundations for understanding education as a social and cultural practice rather than a purely instructional activity. The interrelationship between education, sociology, and anthropology not only enriches conceptual understandings of education but also offers significant contributions to applied fields, particularly Guidance and Counseling. This article aims to critically review the definitions, core concepts, and scopes of education, sociology and sociology of education, as well as anthropology and anthropology of education, and to examine their relevance to educational practice and Guidance and Counseling. Employing a literature review approach, this study analyzes relevant and recent scholarly works from sociological and anthropological perspectives. The findings indicate that education, sociology, and anthropology are deeply interconnected and function synergistically in explaining educational dynamics, especially in addressing learners’ social and cultural diversity. This review underscores the importance of integrating sociological and anthropological perspectives to strengthen the theoretical foundations and professional practices of Guidance and Counseling within diverse educational contexts. Dalam kerangka ini, sosiologi dan antropologi menyediakan landasan teoretis yang penting untuk memahami pendidikan sebagai praktik sosial dan kultural, bukan semata-mata aktivitas pedagogis. Keterkaitan antara pendidikan, sosiologi, dan antropologi tidak hanya memperkaya pemahaman konseptual tentang pendidikan, tetapi juga memberikan kontribusi signifikan bagi pengembangan bidang-bidang terapan, khususnya Bimbingan dan Konseling. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk meninjau secara kritis pengertian, konsep dasar, dan ruang lingkup pendidikan, sosiologi dan sosiologi pendidikan, serta antropologi dan antropologi pendidikan, serta menganalisis relevansinya terhadap praktik pendidikan dan Bimbingan dan Konseling. Metode yang digunakan adalah tinjauan literatur dengan menelaah karya-karya ilmiah yang relevan dan mutakhir dari perspektif sosiologis dan antropologis.
